Ministerial List: See List Of Speculated Nominees

<p dir="ltr"><img src="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Buhari-Official-Seat2-600x364.jpg"></p> <p dir="ltr">Barely 48 hours to September 30, the deadline given by President Muhammadu Buhari, to release the list of his long-awaited ministerial nominees, the social media was again abuzz on Monday, with a list of politicians and technocrats who are speculated to make the ministerial nominees to be sent to the Senate tomorrow.</p> <p dir="ltr">However, this list is not an official list from the Presidency. Again, this is not likely the real list because some names such as that of Dr Kayode Fayemi, Femi Falana and Engineer Segun Oni are all from Ekiti State. Sepp Blatter has denied any wrongdoing and has vowed to continue as president of FIFA despite a criminal investigation.</p> <p dir="ltr">Sepp Blatter has vowed to continue as FIFA president until February's election and has denied any wrongdoing after a criminal investigation was opened last week.</p> <p dir="ltr">A probe into allegations of criminal mismanagement was launched by the Swiss attorney general against Blatter last week, while it was confirmed that authorities would look into the circumstances surrounding a payment made to UEFA president Michel Platini.</p> <p dir="ltr">Blatter, however, has released a statement after returning to FIFA headquarters in Zurich on Monday and has stated he will not step aside as the investigation continues.</p> <p dir="ltr">A communication from Blatter's legal team read: "President Blatter spoke to FIFA staff today and informed the staff that he was cooperating with the authorities, reiterated that he had done nothing illegal or improper and stated that he would remain as president of FIFA.</p> <p dir="ltr">"On the Platini matter, president Blatter on Friday shared with the Swiss authorities the fact that Mr. Platini had a valuable employment relationship with FIFA serving as an advisor to the president beginning in 1998. He explained to the prosecutors that the payments were valid compensation and nothing more and were properly accounted for within FIFA including the withholding of Social Security contributions.</p> <p dir="ltr">"Because of the continuing investigation president Blatter will answer no further questions at this time."</p> <p dir="ltr">Swiss prosecutors confirmed last week that Blatter was suspected of signing a contract with former Caribbean football chief Jack Warner in 2005 which was "unfavorable to FIFA", in relation to a TV rights agreement which would allegedly prove hugely beneficial to Warner's own company.</p> <p dir="ltr">The alleged payment made to Platini, believed to total 1.3 million pounds ($2 million), was claimed to be "at the expense of FIFA, which was allegedly made for work performed between January 1999 and June 2002," though Platini himself moved to clarify the issue.</p> <p dir="ltr">"Regarding the payment that was made to me, I wish to state that this amount relates to work which I carried out under a contract with FIFA and I was pleased to have been able to clarify all matters relating to this with the authorities," the UEFA chief said.</p> <p dir="ltr">Richard Cullen, another of Blatter's legal team, stated last week that he was confident the allegations would be dropped.</p> <p dir="ltr">"When the Swiss authorities have a chance to review the documents and the evidence, they will see that the contract was properly prepared and negotiated by the appropriate staff members of FIFA  who were routinely responsible for such contracts, and certainly no mismanagement occurred," he said.</p>

Police Inspector To Die By Hanging For Murder

<p dir="ltr"><img src="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/die_hanging_image.jpg"></p> <p dir="ltr"><b>A Rivers State High Court has sentenced one Inspector Samuel Timothy of the Nigeria Police to death by hanging for shooting and killing a sachet water dealer, Onyekachi Nwasouba.</b></p> <p dir="ltr">The court’s ruling is coming about five years after Nwasouba’s murder by the police at about 5am on November 10, 2010 at No. 34, Old Aba Road, Port Harcourt.</p> <p dir="ltr">Nwasouba, who was a graduate of Industrial Chemistry, was branded an armed robber by the police while he was on his way to distribute his products to customers within the Port Harcourt metropolis.</p> <p dir="ltr">The deceased was shot dead by a team of policemen led by Timothy at the front of his residence, even after he (Nwasouba) shouted to the hearing of the policemen that he was only a pure water producer and not an armed robber.</p> <p dir="ltr">But delivering his judgment on Monday, the trial judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, declared that the convict (Timothy) demonstrated an act of inhumanity through his action.</p> <p dir="ltr">Justice Enebeli, whose ruling took about three hours, however, discharged and acquitted one Corporal Moses, who had been standing trial together with the convict.</p> <p dir="ltr">The judge stated that based on the testimonies of witnesses, including members of the patrol team in the case, the convict was an “Inhuman, trigger-happy policeman, who engages in murder; a hater of humankind and a merciless killer.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Explaining that the killing of the sachet water seller by the convict was deliberate, Justice Enebeli, maintained that Timothy should die by hanging.</p> <p dir="ltr">The trial judge added that based on the law and the circumstance surrounding the death of the graduate of Industrial Chemistry, he had no power to reduce the sentence.</p> <p dir="ltr">“According to Section 319 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I do not have the power to reduce your sentence. That, you, Inspector Timothy Sampson be hanged on your neck until you are dead,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">Justice Enebeli stated that Corporal Moses was discharged and acquitted because it became clear that the policemen on duty never conspired to kill the victim (Nwasouba).</p> <p dir="ltr">It was, however, learnt that the convict had served 33 years in the Nigeria Police and two years remaining to retire before the incident occurred.<br> </p>

26-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death For Showing Interest In Chief’s Daughter

<p dir="ltr"><img src="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Bloody-Knife.jpg"></p> <p dir="ltr">A plumber in Ogijo has been stabbed to death because he showed interest in the daughter of his township’s ruler.</p> <p dir="ltr">The death of Semiu Sanni, 26, a plumber, who was stabbed during the yearly Ojude Oba festival in Sagamu Local Government has brought sorrow to the people of Sagamu.</p> <p dir="ltr">The plumber who died at about midnight Sunday on the way to Ikorodu General Hospital was stabbed at about 7.05pm at Omoleye area of Ogijo, Vanguard reports.</p> <p dir="ltr">Following his death, the Oluwo of Ogijo, Chief Mufutau Oduntan , and his immediate family members have been displaced as two cars, a building and personal effects belonging to the family had been set ablaze by a mob.</p> <p dir="ltr">According to eye witnesses’ account, the late Semiu, an alleged cultist, reportedly made love advances at the chief’s daughter, which the father did not take kindly to.</p> <p dir="ltr">Chief Oduntan was said to have warned the deceased to steer clear of his daughter or face his wrath.</p> <p dir="ltr">An argument was said to have ensued between both parties which also extended to their friends.</p> <p dir="ltr">While the Ojude-Oba was ongoing, the chief met the deceased’s father, Mr Sakurai Sanni, popularly called “Arewa’, asking him to stop his son from having an affair with his daughter.</p> <p dir="ltr">Not quite long after the warning, Semiu was said to have been attacked by members of a rival group who stabbed him severally on the neck after which he was left in the pool of his own blood.</p> <p dir="ltr">His friends and family members were said to have rushed to his aid by taking him to a private hospital where he was rejected but died on the way to Ikorodu General Hospital.</p> <p dir="ltr">It was learned that as soon as the incident occurred on Saturday, a mob stormed the chief’s residence, setting his two cars ablaze.</p> <p dir="ltr">As if this was not enough, they were said to have returned yesterday, chasing the chief and his immediate family members out and set their property ablaze.</p> <p dir="ltr">Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police spokesman, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspects had gone into hiding. “The DPO has been mandated to fish them out,” he said<br> </p>

88-Year-Old Man Remanded In Prison Over N100m Land Fraud In Lagos (Photo)

<p dir="ltr"><img src="http://www.naijaloaded.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Pa-Adeola-Ajidahun-on-blue-buba-at-Igbosere-court.jpg"></p> <p dir="ltr">An 88-year-old man, Pa Adeola Ajidahun has been remanded in prison custody by an Igbosere Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding over 15 people to the tune of a N100m under the pretence of selling lands to them at the Lekki Resettlement Schemes in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ajidahun who hails from Ekiti State was apprehended after he allegedly defrauded one Kehinde Ola to the tune of N30m</p> <p dir="ltr">The 88-year-old, who lives at 89, Karimu Laka street, Egbeda area of the state convinced Ola into paying for a land which he alleged was allocated to him by the State government.<br> He was said to have produced fake documents on the said land and later took Ola to inspect the area in Lekki alongside his agent, Felix Olu Fadare.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ola, who did not suspect anything was amiss, paid for the land through his bank, unknownly, the land Ajidahun sold to him belonged to another family in the area.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ajidahun was alleged to have defrauded several others using the land. One of his victim, Tony Ezeoke, was said to have lost over N10 million on the same land.</p> <p dir="ltr">On noticing the fraud, Ola petitioned the Anti-Special Fraud Unit, SFU, attached to the Lagos State Police Command leading to his arrest and subsequent arraignment.</p> <p dir="ltr">The accused was arraigned for conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the Criminal Code.</p> <p dir="ltr">Testifying in court, the prosecutor, Mr Boniface Asogwara said the octogenarian obtained the money from Ola under the false pretence of selling plots of land at Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos.</p> <p dir="ltr">The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Oshin granted Ajidahun bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, adding that one of the sureties must be a civil servant of level 16 and must show evident of tax clearance for three years.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ajidahun’s inability to get somebody to perfect his bail led to him been remanded in Ikoyi prison.</p> <p dir="ltr">Oshin however adjourned the case till October.<br> </p>

Saraki Is Our Man, We Will Not Abandon Him – PDP Opens Up

<p dir="ltr">If a man dumped your party, joined another to defeat you in the general election and you now turn around to be fighting for the same man, there is an agenda you are working to achieve. That’s politics for you.</p> <p dir="ltr">The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has insisted that Senate President Bukola Saraki is their man and is fit for the office he is occupying; hence they are not considering any candidate to replace him.</p> <p dir="ltr">PDP spokesman Olisa Metuh gave their position: “Does the trial have merit? When we see the merit of the case, we will take position. But for now, there is nothing like that.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The PDP denied reports that it was already looking for a senator from the opposition party to replace Saraki, who is currently under pressure to resign from office following his trial for false asset declaration by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.</p> <p dir="ltr">Speaking with Punch, Metuh said the party still believed that the trial of Saraki was political and that the PDP would not think of abandoning the Senate president until it sees the merit of the case.</p> <p dir="ltr">He added, “We have no candidate for the office of the Senate President, because we have a fit person occupying the position for now.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We are behind him and we can’t abandon him just because he is undergoing trial. Busted!! Woman Arrested For Attempting To Use Twins For Fraud In Lagos

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> <div style="background-color: #e5e5e5; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19.5px; margin-bottom: 10px; padding: 0px;"><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">Police operatives attached to Pen Cinema police station in Agege, Lagos, on Sunday arrested a woman for trying to use twins belonging to Mrs. Ruth Uche for fraud.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">The woman was nabbed at College Road Estate, after she took the four- month old babies to a retired police commissioner’s house, claiming they were his grandchildren.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">The Nation gathered that the suspect, a mother of two, identified as Victd, was introduced to the Uches by one of their neighbours.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">She was said to have deceived the children’s parents that she wanted them to appear in a film.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">Although Ruth’s husband, Emeka Uche, was said to have declined initially, he eventually consented to her request on the condition that his wife must go along with the children.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">But rather than taking them for the film shooting as claimed, she reportedly carried them to the big man’s house, who was overjoyed when he saw the children.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">Trouble, however, started after the suspect could not state the actual s*x and age of the babies.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">Victoria, who had earlier taken pictures of the twins and sent to the man, had told him they were boys and two months old.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">But when the retired commissioner eventually saw the babies, he realised they were a boy and girl, and looked much older than two months.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">It was at that point that Mrs. Uche suspected something was amiss and told the man the babies’ actual age and s*x.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“I did not understand what was going on. I do not even know the place we went to. She has been pleading with us that she wanted to use the twins (youngest set) in a film.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“My husband initially declined the proposal, but he later changed his mind since the woman said she wanted the children to act in a film. I begged my husband and he said he will only agree on the condition that I go with the woman.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“So, around 11:30am on Sunday, we all left the house and came to Agege. She took us to one big man’s house. I do not know the place and she told me to sit down that it is the kids that will act the film.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“But when I sat down, I heard the man asking her whether the children are two boys and how old they are.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“She said two months and that they are boys. But I told the man that they are a boy and girl, and that they are four months old.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“The man asked whose children and I told him they are my children, that the woman said she wanted to act film with them.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“That was when the man started shouting, saying that she told him that my children are his grandchildren. The man said she has sent their picture before, saying his son impregnated a woman before travelling abroad.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“The man now said that we were in it together and that I knew about it. I told him I do not know anything that the only thing she told us was that she wanted to act film with my babies.</p><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; widows: 1;">“Before she did not want to talk, but when people threatened her, she told them that I am innocent. The woman told them she wanted to get money from the man. That woman is a criminal,” Mrs. Uche said.</p></div> </div>
